James H. Krumsiek has been practicing law in the Boston area for almost thirty years, both in private practice and as in-house counsel for two publicly traded banks. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of the Holy Cross and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School. He is admitted to the bars of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the United States District Court of Massachusetts.

Jim has represented lenders and borrowers in a variety of areas during his career including commercial and residential real estate lending, asset-based transactions and secured party sales as well as workouts, foreclosures and bankruptcy matters. In his most recent tenure with a Boston bank, over the span of eight plus years his responsibilities included the legal underwriting, title review and closing on the acquisition of approximately $900 million in commercial real estate loans secured by properties situated across the country as well as oversight of the bank’s national commercial loan origination business and ongoing work with its lender portfolio finance team. In addition, Jim handled the in-house legal work with the asset management team with regard to the acquired commercial loan portfolios which required significant transactional work such as loan modifications, forbearance agreements, short sales, discounted payoff settlements, loan sales and additionally assessed, consulted and addressed litigation and bankruptcy matters with outside counsel. During his tenure he oversaw the growth of the bank’s legal department from just himself to ultimately five professionals.

From 2007-2011 Jim was a member of Perry, Krumsiek & Jack LLP (predecessor to Perry Krumsiek LLP) representing lenders, borrowers and buyers and sellers of commercial real estate as well as foreclosure and bankruptcy matters. He additionally handled a number of leasing matters for a national pharmacy chain.

Prior to working with Perry, Krumsiek & Jack, LLP, Jim was in-house counsel with Capital Crossing Bank for seven years until 2007 and previously was a partner with Riemer & Braunstein LLP, working in the workout/foreclosure area before moving onto commercial real estate and asset based lending.. Before joining Riemer & Branunstein, LLP, Jim served as an associate attorney with law firms in Springfield and Andover, Massachusetts.

A native of Longmeadow, Massachusetts, Jim and his wife Mary live in Sudbury where they continue to raise the last of their five children. Jim is a coach emeritus of too many youth basketball, baseball, lacrosse and football teams to count and now enjoys watching from the sideline.
